Position title: Visitor Experience Officer

Hours: negotiable

Location: Wildlife Wonders, Apollo Bay

Remuneration: Grade 2 (Amusements Events and Recreation Award 2020)

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced individual to provide exceptional frontline visitor services at the Wildlife Wonders Visitor Centre that includes a café, retail outlet and facilities.

Core Responsibilities

The core responsibilities of the Visitor Experience role includes: 

  • Welcoming visitors to Wildlife Wonders.
  • Maintaining a consistent, current and accurate knowledge of Wildlife Wonders operations and key messages.
  • Working closely with colleagues to achieve a high level of harmony and team effectiveness. 
  • Taking bookings, responding to enquiries, processing ticket sales.
  • Assisting with sales in the gift shop.
  • Assisting with food and beverage service in the café, including making coffees (barista training provided).
  • Monitoring and maintaining the presentation of public spaces, including general cleaning and gardening duties.
  • Resolving minor administrative and operational issues as required.
  • Maintaining and ensuring accuracy and consistency of visitor data as per relevant procedures.
  • Undertaking other duties within the scope of the role as directed by the Manager and/or the Team Leader.
  • Reporting faults, maintenance and repairs requirements.
  • Complying with and working within Wildlife Wonders policies and procedures and conservation guidelines.

We are seeking a Cook to join our team.

Hours: negotiable

Location: Wildlife Wonders, Apollo Bay

Remuneration: Negotiable based on experience

Accommodation: Can be arranged for the right candidate

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably experienced cook to prepare a simple, wholesome menu showcasing local produce, and to collaborate with the Wildlife Wonders team to deliver an outstanding visitor experience. This role has potential to develop into a management position.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, a passion for good food, sustainability and local produce, exceptional communication skills and an ability to work as a team to deliver outstanding visitor experiences. This position requires a ‘hands on approach’ to the day-to-day operations as well as strong leadership and time management skills.

Reporting to the Wildlife Wonders Manager, this role will suit a person who is looking for an exciting career opportunity to apply their culinary skills and experience, and to work as part of a team to create a legacy for conservation and the community. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with a small and dedicated team in a fast-paced startup environment and will be ready to roll up their sleeves and get things done.
